Product Introduction

The Double Suction Impellers for Double Suction Pumps are high-efficiency rotating components designed to minimize axial thrust and maximize flow capacity in large-scale fluid handling systems. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant alloys such as 2205 duplex (UNS S32205), 316L (UNS S31603), or nickel-aluminum bronze (NAB) via investment casting, these impellers feature symmetrical vane geometries and balanced suction ports to achieve bidirectional fluid intake.

Engineered for low NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) requirements and high volumetric efficiency (≥ 90%), the impellers meet API 610 and ISO 19951 standards, ensuring reliable operation in flow rates up to 20,000 m³/h and heads up to 200 meters.

Product Advantage

This casting part is a double suction impeller, used for double suction centrifugal pumps. The double-suction impeller has a large flow rate. It has the features of axial force balance and high efficiency. It is made in materials of different stainless steel and duplex stainless steel for different use purpose. Based on the complicated structure, the impeller process is designed with dissolving cores to ensure the quality of the casting. We can do the static or dynamic balancing for the impellers before despatch.

Axial Thrust Balance: Symmetrical vane layout and dual suction eyes cancel out axial forces, reducing bearing loads by 80% compared to single-suction impellers and extending bearing life by 50%.

High-Efficiency Hydraulic Design: CFD-optimized vane angles (20-25°) and wide chord lengths minimize recirculation, achieving up to 92% hydraulic efficiency in clear water and 85% in low-solids slurries (≤ 3% solids by volume).

Corrosion & Erosion Resistance: 2205 duplex impellers resist chloride stress corrosion in seawater (≥ 35,000 ppm Cl⁻), while NAB impellers offer superior abrasion resistance in silt-laden rivers (≤ 500 ppm silt).

Modular Compatibility: Standardized hub diameters and keyway profiles ensure interchangeability with leading pump brands, facilitating quick replacement during maintenance shutdowns.

Product Uses

The double-suction impeller is primarily responsible for energy conversion, flow control, axial force balancing, efficiency improvement, and adaptability to various media in pumps, ensuring efficient, stable, and reliable operation.

Product Application

Due to the unique design and advantages, the double suction impellers are broadly adopted in various industries, such as water supply systems, Irrigation systems, chemical industry, water treatment, and power plants.

Water Supply Grids: Used in large centrifugal pumps for municipal water intake and distribution, with 316L impellers resisting corrosion from chlorinated water and biofilm buildup.

Power Generation: Integral to condenser circulating pumps in thermal power plants, where 2205 duplex impellers withstand high-pressure (100 bar/1,450 PSI) and temperature (300°C/572°F) seawater cooling systems.

Irrigation & Agriculture: Deployed in axial-flow pumps for large-scale crop irrigation, with wide-vane impellers handling debris-laden canal water (≤ 5mm particles) without clogging.

Marine Propulsion: Forms the core of bilge and ballast pumps in ships, with NAB impellers offering excellent resistance to cavitation erosion in high-speed seawater applications.

FAQ

Q: How does the double suction design improve pump stability?

A: Balanced fluid intake reduces radial forces and vibration, allowing operation at higher speeds (up to 3,600 RPM) with lower noise levels (≤ 80 dBA).

Q: Can these impellers be used with viscous fluids?

A: Yes—custom vane profiles handle viscosities up to 1,000 cP, with optional surface coatings (PTFE) to reduce fluid adhesion and improve self-priming capabilities.

Q: What is the recommended maintenance interval for double suction impellers?

A: Routine inspection every 6-12 months is advised; in abrasive environments, replaceable wear rings on the impeller periphery extend service life by 30%.
